Where will you use most of your data?

Imagine spending a few days in Lisbon before continuing to Seville or Madrid. Some days may need little more than messages; another may involve long map sessions, photos and calls. Decide how much data you expect to use at each stop before comparing the prices.

With separate country plans, the Portugal allowance belongs to the Portugal plan and the Spain allowance belongs to the Spain plan. Unused data from the first plan does not become data for the second country. A regional plan covering both places gives you one allowance to use across its supported countries.

Two local plans keep 3 GB in Portugal and 3 GB in Spain separate; one regional example shares 3 GB between both countries
Illustrative allowances: 6 GB split between two country plans and 3 GB shared by one regional plan are different amounts.

Prices checked . The country examples use the lowest listed price for each amount with at least seven days; the regional examples have at least 14 days and explicitly list both PT and ES. Equal prices favour longer validity. The options contain different amounts of data, so compare them against your itinerary rather than treating the rows as equivalent bundles.

For the country options, compare the individual Portugal prices and Spain prices. Confirm the current offer and final total in the Stellar eSIM app.

Two ways to put those numbers to work

A light stop in each country. If your own budget is no more than 1 GB in Portugal and 1 GB in Spain, the two small country examples total €0.54. Check the Spain plan’s 7-day validity against the actual dates you will need it.

Uneven use across the border. If you expect 1 GB in Portugal and 2 GB in Spain, the 3 GB regional example can put its allowance where you use it. It leaves no extra data buffer in that particular calculation, so allow for unexpected usage before choosing. Our travel data calculator examples help you make your own estimate.

A larger region name can still miss your next stop

Both regional examples above list Portugal and Spain. Their other countries differ: the 3 GB Europe (33 areas) example includes France, while the 5 GB Europe (35 areas) example does not. If France becomes part of the route, that difference matters more than the larger number in the plan name.

Open the exact offer’s 33-area coverage list or 35-area coverage list and check every stop. Review island and territory coverage in the plan details when it is relevant to your trip.

Make the border crossing simple

With separate plans, install them according to their order instructions and select the right line for mobile data when you change countries. A phone with several saved profiles may still limit how many lines can be active at once, so check your exact model.

For the selected examples, validity begins on the first supported network connection. A regional plan has one running validity period across the route; changing countries does not restart it. Keep your home carrier’s roaming conditions in mind if you leave that line enabled alongside the travel eSIM.

Choose for the route you are taking

Use the Portugal guide and Spain guide for destination preparation, then open Stellar eSIM to compare the current plans. You can buy your travel data and follow the remaining allowance in the app.

Free Stellar VPN is included for the plan’s validity. Set up its separate app with the access instructions supplied after purchase. For a wider route, start with all countries and regions and check coverage before deciding on one shared plan.
