Before opening the setup menu
Confirm eSIM support and that the phone is unlocked for use with another provider. A work-managed phone may also have restrictions imposed by its administrator. Resolve those before buying a travel plan.
Connect to reliable internet and open your order instructions. Keep the activation details private. If you plan to scan a QR code, have it available on a second trusted screen or use the alternative installation method provided with your order.

Find eSIM setup on Samsung Galaxy
On supported Galaxy models, start in Settings, Connections, SIM manager. Look for Add eSIM or Add mobile plan; wording varies. Select the option to scan a QR code if that is the method supplied for your plan, then follow the phone’s prompts.
Once the profile appears, give it a useful travel label. Before switching on data, compare the installed line with the order you meant to use. This matters if you have profiles left over from previous trips.
Find eSIM setup on Google Pixel
On supported Pixel devices, start in Settings, Network & internet, SIMs, Add SIM. Choose the eSIM setup option and follow the supplied activation method. Google notes that dual-SIM combinations depend on the device and carrier.
After installation, review the preferred SIM for data separately from calls and messages. If your settings look different, use Google’s instructions for your version instead of trying unrelated menu options.
Select the travel SIM and test it
At the time specified by your plan, enable the travel eSIM, select it for mobile data and apply its roaming instructions. Review automatic data switching and the home SIM’s roaming setting. A second installed SIM does not itself stop charges on the first one.
Turn Wi-Fi off briefly and load a small page to test mobile data. If nothing loads, confirm coverage and plan validity, then check the selected line again. Do not change APN values unless the order instructions or support provide the exact values.
Keep a note of the device model, Android version and any error message if you need support. Avoid sharing QR codes or account credentials in public screenshots. For a failed installation, leave the profile in place until support confirms whether it can be safely removed.
